Hurricane Harvey: Shelters Open In Spring, Woodlands To Help Flood Victims

Residents who don't want to risk going into downtown can find shelter close to home until the danger passes

SPRING, TX โ€” Local communities in northwest Houston are opening shelters to ensure those affected by the flooding donโ€™t have to risk traveling into downtown.

The Tomball Independent School District has opened Creekside Park Junior High in The Woodlands to serve those displaced by the ravages of Hurricane Harvey, and the Klein Independent school District has opened up the Klein Multipurpose Center on FM 2920 in near Tomball to help storm and flood victims.

  • LSC-North Harris 15 2200 Thorne Drive, in Houston
  • Klein Multipurpose Center at 7500 FM 2920 in Spring
  • Creekside Park Jr. High at 8711 Creekside Green Drive, The Woodlands

Mike Baxter, marketing director for the City of Tomball the Klein Mutipurpose Center, has received an outpouring of bedding supplies to help those who are displaced, and donโ€™t need any more bedding.

However, they could use donations of other items such as:

  • Cots
  • Sleeping bags
  • Baby Wipes
  • Baby pajamas
  • Toothbrushes
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Clorox wipes
  • Socks
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Feminine Hygiene items
  • Phone Chargers
  • Pet Crates

Volunteers are needed to help at all locations.
