Local Student Athletes Get Major Boost from J J Watt Foundation

For the first time in over half a decade, student athletes at the Harmony School of Technology are stepping onto the court with a fresh look and a renewed sense of confidence, thanks to a major assist from NFL legend JJ Watt. The Justin J. Watt Foundation recently stepped in to revitalize the school’s athletic department, providing a generous donation that funded 60 brand new uniforms. The upgrade covers three core programs: Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball.

For the students, the new gear represents more than just fabric and stitching. Before the foundation intervened, Harmony’s teams had been wearing the same uniforms for more than five years. The wear and tear were becoming evident, and they were in need of an update. "Seeing our athletes step onto the court in these brand new uniforms has been transformative," said Coach Bert. "After five years without new gear, this donation has given our players a renewed sense of pride."

The school secured the funding after submitting a detailed application to the foundation, highlighting how a lack of resources was impacting the student athlete experience. The JJ Watt Foundation, known for its mission to provide after-school opportunities for middle schoolers to learn life lessons through sports, saw an opportunity to make a tangible difference. As the season continues, the Harmony School of Technology community remains vocal in their gratitude, proving that sometimes the biggest plays happen off the field.
