Danny Nguyen Launches Congressional Bid
Nguyen is hosting a kickoff party on Jan. 11 from 6-9 p.m., inside the Lone Star Ballroom at the Hampton Inn in Missouri City.

SUGAR LAND, TX — Missouri City businessman and former councilman Danny Nguyen announced the official kickoff of his congressional campaign in a press release on Wednesday.
The kickoff party will be held on Jan. 11 from 6-9 p.m. inside the Lone Star Ballroom at the Hampton Inn at 4909 State Highway 6 in Missouri City.
Nguyen, 47, is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep Pete Olson for the Republican nomination for the District 22 Congressional seat in the March 6 primary.

Nguyen came to the U.S. in 1984 when he was still a teenager,as a refugee from Vietnam, where he fled with his father on a fishing boat.
"It was a long and arduous journey with tears and pain but the price of freedom and opportunity was worth it,” Nguyen said on his website.

Ten years later, he and his father would be reunited with his mother and five siblings in Fort Bend County.
Since then, Nguyen has lived the American dream, earning his degree from Texas A&M University, and becoming a successful businessman and community leader in the Missouri City community.
Nguyen said he is ready to take the next step.
“As I look around at our country today, I see deception, I see divisiveness, I see distractions, and if we do not do something about it, we will soon self-destruct before any external enemy can harm us,” he said on his webpage.
Olson, 55, has represented the 22nd Congressional District since 2008, and currently serves on the Communications and Technology Subcommittee, is a new member of the Environment Subcommittee, and co-chairs the Congressional Refinery Caucus the Corrosion Caucus.
