The kitchens in Cypress are about to get a lot more exciting! Two local stars from Harmony Science Academy-Bridgeland are trading their textbooks for whisks as they head to the national spotlight.
Kavya B., a spirited third grader, and her older sister Taanvi B., a talented sixth grader, have been officially named as contestants on the premiere season of Baking Championship: Next Gen. The highly anticipated show is scheduled to kick off on Food Network starting January 5, 2026.

The B. sisters aren't just baking for fun; they are one of only 12 elite teams of siblings (ages 8 to 14) from across the country selected for the competition. At stake is a life-changing $25,000 grand prize and the prestigious title of Next Generation Baking Champions.
For Kavya and Taanvi, this journey began long before the cameras started rolling. The duo has spent years cultivating a passion for baking in their home kitchen, blending traditional family recipes with modern flair. Now, that sisterly bond will be put to the ultimate test in front of a national audience.

The series promises to be a whirlwind of sugar, flour, and high-stakes creativity. Hosted by legendary pastry master Duff Goldman and the "Queen of Southern Cooking" Kardea Brown, the girls will face whimsical and technical challenges including:

  • Breakfast Dessert Imposters: Making treats that look like savory breakfast favorites.
  • Cream Puff Friendship Bracelets: Testing delicate pastry skills and intricate assembly.
  • Animated Cakes: Bringing flour and frosting to life with movement and imagination.

While Goldman and Brown serve as judges, they also act as mentors, guiding the young bakers through the highs and lows of the competition and the inevitable "sibling rivalry" that pops up when the timer starts ticking.

Getting to the Food Network studios was no piece of cake. Kavya and Taanvi spent months refining their techniques and practicing collaboration to prepare for the high-pressure environment. Their success highlights a growing trend of young culinary artists in our community who are proving that age is just a number when it comes to world-class baking.
