Three Harmony Public Schools Campuses to be Recognized by the State Board of Education

Campuses recognized for outstanding academic performance across Texas

KATY, Texas — Three Houston area Harmony Public Schools campuses will be recognized by the Texas State Board of Education after being named 2025 Lone Star Ribbon Schools, an honor that highlights academic excellence and progress in closing achievement gaps.

The State Board of Education will formally recognize the schools during its meeting on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, in Austin. The meeting will be held in person at the Barbara Jordan Building at 1601 North Congress Avenue and will also be livestreamed for members of the public who wish to watch remotely.

The resolution honoring Harmony Science Academy Sugar Land and Harmony Science Academy Katy Elementary and Middle School will be read during the morning session, which begins at 8:45 a.m.

The Lone Star Ribbon Schools program was established by Gov. Greg Abbott to recognize public schools that demonstrate strong academic outcomes and meaningful progress in narrowing achievement gaps among student groups. This year marks the inaugural class of schools to receive the designation.

“At HSA Katy Elementary, we are incredibly proud to be named one of the top 28 schools in Texas as a 2025 Lone Star Ribbon School,” said Dr. Ali Malik, principal of Harmony Science Academy Katy Elementary. “This recognition reflects a five-year journey made possible by the dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and campus leadership. Our school has set a high standard of excellence by empowering scholars to reach their fullest potential.”

School leaders say the designation reflects the broader success of Harmony Public Schools across the state, particularly in STEM-focused instruction and student achievement.

Harmony Public Schools emphasizes science, technology, engineering, and math education alongside character development, project-based learning, and college readiness. The charter system reports a 98 percent high school graduation rate and a 100 percent college acceptance rate among graduating seniors.

Harmony Public Schools is currently accepting applications for students and team members for the 2025 to 2026 school year.
