Here are the top stories today in Irving:
- Irving police mourn the loss of one of their long-time volunteers, Steve McCaghren, known to most as "Big Steve." McCaghren joined the Irving Citizens on Patrol (ICOP) program in 1994, spending almost 30 years and thousands of hours assisting officers. The Department says they are grateful for the time they had with Big Steve. (Irving Weekly)
- The latest report from UT Southwestern shows pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations have more than doubled since January in North Texas. Seth Kaplan of the Texas Pediatric Society says hospitals are overwhelmed with sick kids right now, and UT Southwestern officials forecast the numbers will continue to grow. Alex Boyer reports on the impact these child cases have on the community, including teachers who face increasing risk of burnout. (FOX 4 Dallas)
