Here are the top five stories in Irving today:
- Changes are coming to City Council districts, according to Irving Weekly. Following the release of the 2020 Census data, Irving city councilors have voted to establish new district boundaries. Check out CityofIrving.org/Redistricting to see the old new districts and learn about proposed new ones.
- The Super Bowl may be coming to a stadium near you, reports Jim Alexander. The iconic game is scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13, but NFL deciders are coming up with contingency plans in case the omicron surge in that area makes it impossible. Among the possible alternative spots is AT&T Stadium in Arlington. (East Bay Times)
- Dallas County reported its highest one-day COVID positive rate, totaling 6,310 new COVID cases as of January 6. The County also suffered 12 deaths related to the virus. In the wake of the uptick, many institutions are returning to remote-only operations, including University of Texas at Arlington and University of Texas at Dallas. (WFAA.com)
