🌱Police Seeking Oak Cliff Road Rage Shooter + Frost Fest Returns

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Irving.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Ash DeMello, your host of the Irving Daily.

First, today's weather:

Milder with plenty of sun. High: 66 Low: 44.

Here are the top five stories in Irving today:

  1. A shooting that took place over a parking space last month continues to leave family and residents grappling to understand. Andre Rufus, 44, was shot in Oak Cliff by someone in a black GMC Denali after exchanging words about the position of Rufus' truck. Detective Theodore Gross, who is investigating the crime, says that the COVID pandemic is linked to an increase in road rage cases such as this one. (NBC DFW)
  2. Read the thoughts on repurposing old industrial buildings in West Dallas over at Candy'sDirt.com. Karen Eubank reports on some locals' feelings that developers aren't doing enough to preserve historical properties, such as the former Atlas Metal Works.
  3. An Arlington couple that underwent gastric bypass surgery is sharing their weight loss story. Click over to NBC DFW to read about Kelli and Jason Taylor, who together lost 250 pounds. Kelli attributes their success to their shared journey: "We were able to encourage each other. We were able to change the habits together and as a family."
  4. Find out who were the W-I-N-N-E-R-S of Irving ISD's Spelling Bee via the Irving Weekly.
  5. An Irving firm's innovation is helping to solve a conundrum faced by many who hire remote workers. Learn how verifying documents has presented a problem for many companies and how OnBlick is working towards a solution. (dallasinnovates.com)
