Here are the top three stories in Irving today:
- This week, the City of Irving is kicking off On Stage at Heritage, a monthly entertainment events series happening on the second Friday of each month through September. On Mar. 11 at 6:30 p.m., head over to Heritage Park for an evening of live music with free admission and free parking. The inaugural event will be a performance from Chaz Marie, who describes her music as a fusion of country, blues, R&B, and rock and roll. Future events will feature musicians, movies, and comedy acts. (Press Release Desk)
- Cities across America need access to better data to make real, impactful changes for their residents. To that end, the City of Irving is launching a data academy this month to advance its data-informed policymaking, according to STATESCOOP. Irving's Chief Innovation and Performance Officer, Aimee Kaslik, said she plans to spend more time with departments on "getting good data" and organizing it using tools like Microsoft Excel to create data visualizations and tell stories with their data. "You need to be able to quickly and visually see where you have opportunities to improve," Kaslik said. (STATESCOOP)
