• Life amongst the wild (easttexasnews.com) — A local exotic-animal rescue just outside Livingston is fighting to keep its lemurs, kangaroos, snakes, and other creatures after Polk County adopted a wildlife ordinance they say now targets their operation. Owners Miranda Sanders and Nick Bishop describe how a loose boa and online rumors sparked scrutiny, and explain their plans to become federally permitted while continuing to offer a unique educational attraction for area families. 
• Livingston's Akers finishes 4th at Jacksonville College Invitational (kltv.com) — Livingston golf fans can cheer for hometown player Brayden Akers, who tied for fourth while representing Jacksonville College at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Club invitational. The freshman shot a strong three-round total of 217, helping his team finish second overall and showcasing local talent on the regional college golf stage.
• Jonathan Hill (easttexasnews.com) — The community is notified of the passing of Jonathan Theodore Hill, 56, of Goodrich, who died in Livingston on September 20. His family, including siblings in Goodrich and across the country, asks that memorials be directed to local food banks, and Cochran Funeral Home handled arrangements with an online guestbook available for condolences.
