📰 News we're reading

• Mission settles former deputy city attorney's suit (progresstimes.net) — Mission residents should know the city quietly settled a lawsuit with its former deputy city attorney by paying $25,000 and changing her personnel file to show a voluntary resignation. The agreement includes a neutral reference letter and mutual non-disparagement, with no admission of wrongdoing from either side after a judge dismissed the case in June.

• Company Alleges Bias in Mission's Bidding Process (progresstimes.net) — Mission's city council just rejected a longtime contractor's appeal over a sludge management bid, keeping a new company on the job despite complaints about an incomplete bid form. In the same meeting, council locked in the Mission Fire Department as the exclusive provider of fire, EMS, and 911 ambulance services, blocking any outsourcing for at least a year.

• Volleyball Recap: Sharyland's Six-Game Winning Streak Comes to an End (maxpreps.com) — Sharyland's volleyball team saw its six-game winning streak snapped in a 3–1 loss to Pioneer, despite a big night from hitter Pamela Pena. Local fans now turn their attention to Tuesday's 7 p.m. matchup, when Sharyland visits Mission in a district showdown between programs sitting far apart in the state rankings.
