Christmas Day Fire Displaces Residents Of 24 Apartments
The fire, which lasted from morning to afternoon, destroyed half of the building's 24 units.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — All of the residents of a 24-unit apartment building in Northwest Austin were displaced Christmas Day after a fire damaged half of the building's units.
By 11 a.m. or so, the blaze had consumed Building 9 of the International Residence Apartments at 9811 Copper Creek Dr. Firefighters described the conflagration as "heavily involved" via Twitter as they fought to bring it under control Monday afternoon.
Red Cross spokesperson Rick Perkins said the Red Cross and the apartment complex are working to assist those displaced by the fire, in which many residents lost everything, the Statesman reported. The displaced residents stayed in different apartments in the complex as authorities investigate the cause of the blaze.
