Austin Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Capital Metro Bus
Andrew Sanchez, 29, was laying on the roadway along St. Johns Boulevard late at night and was run over by city bus.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Thursday identified the pedestrian who was killed in North Austin by a Capital Metro bus the week prior.
According to a preliminary police investigation, a pedestrian was laying down on the westbound lanes along the 1000 block of St. Johns Boulevard for unknown reasons on Sept. 20 at around 11:30 p.m. The driver of a CapMetro bus traveling west on St. Johns Boulevard was unable to see the pedestrian and ran over him.
The victim was identified as Andrew Sanchez, 29, who was identified dead at the scene. Police noted the bus driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with their investigation.

The incident marked the city's 53rd traffic crash this year resulting in 54 fatalities this year. For the comparable time period last year, there were 47 fatal traffic crashes and 49 traffic fatalities.
