Austin Police Seek Public's Help Locating Robbery Suspect
Surveillance camera images released in hopes of locating man said to have held up a cell phone store and bank at gunpoint over the weekend.
NORTH AUSTIN, TX — Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a pair of robberies — one at a cell phone store and another in a bank — that occurred over the weekend.
The incidents occurred on May 29 and June 1, according to police. The first robbery occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at the Metro PCS store located at 11139 N. Interstate 35 while the second happened just before 5 p.m. at a store at the Woodforest National Bank, 1030 Norwood Park Blvd.
Police released surveillance camera images of the suspect in the hopes someone might recognize him and alert them as to his whereabouts. The unidentified man is said to have displayed a handgun during both robberies before fleeing on foot and, later, a mountain bike with an undisclosed amount of cash and property.

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old man standing at five feet, six inches tall of thin to average build. He has short, saggy blonde hair, mustache and goatee and freckles. The man also sports tattoos on both arms. Police said he wore glasses in the Metro PCS robbery and sunglasses at the bank heist. Police said he carried a black backpack in both robberies, fleeing from the bank on a bicycle.
At the latter robbery, the man was seen wearing a white UT baseball cap and white T-shirt, dark dark cargo shorts and sunglasses.
