1 Killed In Pflugerville Traffic Wreck

Multi-vehicle wreck along SH 130 north of Pecan Street left one person dead; motorists urged to avoid roadway to be closed for 6-8 hours.

PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — Police responded to a multi-vehicle wreck on southbound SH 130 just north of Pecan Street on Thursday morning that left one person dead.

The roadway was closed for nearly 12 hours to accommodate a police investigation before being reopened at around 9:30 p.m. Police first received notice at 10:15 a.m. to the accident that involved three large trucks and three passenger vehicles, according to law enforcement officials.

One person was transported to the hospital, and police confirmed the fatality.

In an earlier text message sent to Pflugerville residents subscribed to the alert system, police urged motorists avoid the area. Police earlier projected the closure would last between six to eight hours. It's unclear what may have caused the wreck. The age and gender of the deceased person also are unknown.

Mere hours later, at just past 5 p.m., Pflugerville police sent another text message to residents alerting them to more accident-sparked road closures. A second traffic collision at FM 685 and Pflugerville Parkway prompted the closure of "multiple" lanes of traffic, police texted. "Avoid the area if possible," the text continues. It's unclear if any injuries or fatalities resulted from that second wreck on Thursday.
