Pflugerville Election Results 2019: Gonzales Wins Mayor's Race
In a final votes tally that arrived Wednesday morning, Victor Gonzales got 54.32 percent of the vote versus 45.68 percent for Brad Marshall.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Mayoral incumbent Victor Gonzales won the race for mayor against challenger Brad Marshall after votes were tallied overnight following Tuesday's election.
The race was tight throughout the night as Marshall closed the gap while returns came in throughout the night on Tuesday. But by 3:40 a.m., the final count was given: 3,356 votes for Gonzales (54.32 percent of the vote) versus 2,822 (45.68 percent) for Marshall.
In a Facebook post, Gonzales thanked his supporters for giving him another three years in office.

"It is 4 a.m., and we are very tired... but we are also so very grateful," Gonzales wrote.
The win secures a second term for Gonzales, who first became mayor in 2016. It also represented the second time Gonzales, a senior account manager at the Office Depot corporate offices, came up against Marshall, owner of a namesake home builder, in the quest for the mayor's post.

When they last faced each other in the 2016 mayor's race, Gonzales secured 50.59 percent of the vote to Marshall's 44.71 percent.

A longtime Pflugerville City Council member before securing the mayoral position, Gonzales earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin. While campaigning, he touted his 47 years of experience in fields ranging from human resources to public administration. For his part, Marshall hails from Los Fresnos, California, and graduated from the University of Phoenix. Among his experience are the five years he spent serving on the Pflugerville City Council.
Gonzales had run on a platform of ensuring affordability residents and mitigating homeowners' tax burdens. He also touted his focus on economic development as a way to bolster the tax base in a fast-growing city.
Marshall ran on similar themes, vowing to lower property tax burdens for homeowners. On the stump, he also pledged to improve city infrastructure while ensuring a quality of life for residents that would include the provision of quality city services.
In their last contest, Gonzales and Marshall ran for the mayor's post along with Philip Emiabata, a commercial trucking business owner, who managed to receive a little over 800 votes. In that last go-around, Gonzales got 8,644 votes to Marshall's 7,640 ballots. This time, Gonzales and Marshall were the sole contenders for the mayor's post.
Gonzales stayed up late watching the returns, thanking his supporters in a 4 a.m. post on Wednesday via social media: "It is 4 a.m., and we are very tired but we are also so very grateful," the mayor wrote. "To all our supporters, THANK YOU! You made it happen. Tonight you gave us another three years to work toward bringing more voices into our city's government. Thank you, and good morning! We would say goodnight, but the sun is coming up soon on a whole new beautiful day in Pflugerville!"
