Pflugerville Officials Release Details Regarding Money Missing From Police Evidence Room

More than $500 was seized from an allegedly illegal gambling house six years ago but has somehow gone missing.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Pflugerville city officials on Wednesday released more details about the money that's gone missing from the police evidence room.

More than $500 connected to a seizure six years ago at a purportedly illegal gambling house went missing recently. The money was seized during a search warrant in the 15000 block of Connie Street in September, according to a motion for property disposition filed by the Pflugerville City Attorney's Office.

Pflugerville spokeswoman Terri Toledo said in an email that the Texas Comptroller's Office requested assistance from the Pflugerville Police Department in the case. The Texas Rangers also are involved in the case, city officials previously stated.

As the case continues, the cit has issued a public notice for the owner of the cash to claim the money, with a Dec. 28 deadline to do so. A court date will be set sometime in the future to facilitate the claiming of the cash, officials said.

Toledo indicated that typically the process of issuing a notice for claiming police evidence starts within months of a case having closed. For unknown reasons, that established protocol wasn't followed in the missing money case.
