Pflugerville PD IDs, Formally Charges Man Who Shot Up Apartments

​David Deluna, 31, charged with six felony charges —​ four for aggravated assault with deadly weapon, two for deadly conduct.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Police late Friday identified the man accused of having fired more than 50 rounds of gunfire inside a a pair of apartments two days before, an incident that led to the hours-long evacuation of nearby residents.

David Deluna, 31, has been charged with six felony charges — four for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two for deadly conduct — for firing into two different apartments, according to a Pflugerville Police Department press advisory issued late Friday.

The charges come after Deluna is said to have fired off multiple rounds of gunfire at the Highlands Luxury Apartments, 1501 S. Heatherwilde Blvd., late Wednesday just past 11 p.m.

Police were able to successfully evacuate nearby residents away from the gunfire as they were kept at bay outside the scene of the gunfire. For his part, Deluna is said to have fallen out of an apartment window after the gunplay, leading to his hospitalization for treatment of injuries prior to being placed into custody.

It's unclear what prompted the shooting. Neighboring residents at the complex weren't able to return to their homes until late Thursday even in the aftermath of the incident as police investigated what resulted in a large, post-shooting crime scene.
