Pflugerville Police ID Victim In City's First Homicide Of Year, First In 15 Years

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Police on Friday identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place this week—the first homicide of the year for Pflugerville and the first in some 15 years in the city.

Officers responded on Wednesday at around 5 a.m. to a call of shots fired along the 15800 block of Foothill Farms Loop. Once there, they found a person in the parking lot with obvious physical trauma. The victim was taken to Round Rock Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has since been identified as Jose Avidan Martinez. The victim's age was not disclosed, and no other details were released. It's unclear how or if the victim knew his attacker or what may have led to their violent encounter.
