Pflugerville To Rename Street In Memory Of Beloved Cyclist

Officials on Sunday will rename Settlers Valley Trail in honor of Thi Ho, 88, who became something of a fixture as he biked along trail.

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — City officials this weekend will rename Settlers Valley Trail in honor of an elderly cyclist who rode along the stretch of roadway for some two decades before he was struck and killed by a car last month.

Mayor Victor Gonzales and family members of Thi Ho are scheduled to meet at the trail crossing near Settlers Valley Drive and 10th Street for the renaming. Ho, 88, was struck by a vehicle on a crosswalk near the site on Sept. 12, succumbing to his injuries five days later.

In his quest to have the street renamed in his honor, his grandson related how Ho had become a community fixture as he bicycled along the trail stretch — smiling and waving at passersby and well wishers — given his penchant for fitness, particularly after beating cancer.
