Police ID Victim, Suspect In Fatal North Austin Shooting

AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday identified the man who was shot dead in North Austin the previous night along with the suspect now under arrest.
The incident occurred on Tuesday just before 7:30 p.m. at 9010 Galewood where police responded to a call about shots being fired, according to a press advisory. Police noted the caller reported that a man had been shot numerous times, the arrival of Austin Fire Department crews and Austin-Travis County EMS medics.
The emergency responders found the victim, Antwan Danell Riddle, 45, before transporting him to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas in critical condition. Despite best efforts, Riddle succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased at 8:13 p.m., police said.

Albert Ellsworth Hardy, 29, was arrested in connection to the shooting, police added. Based on interviews with suspects, Hardy was found in a nearby apartment before being taken into custody without incident, police said. Hardy was booked into the Travis County jail on a charge of 1st degree murder, police said. The Travis County Jail records website had not been updated, yielding no booking photo or bond amount as of early Wednesday afternoon.
