McCallum High School Student Had Plans To 'Kill Everybody'

According to an arrest affidavit, Antonio Wicks, 18, had plans to carry out a rampage with newly bought AR-15, he is said to have told cops.

NORTH AUSTIN, TEXAS — A student arrested last week for threats made against McCallum High School had plans to kill with his newly purchased AR-15 rifle, according to a published report detailing a police affidavit.

Antonio Wicks, 18, a student at the school to which he directed his threats, was arrested on Feb. 13 on a charge of exhibition, use or threat of exhibition or use of a firearm, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, according to jail records. Wicks was still behind bars as of Tuesday, according to Travis County Jail records. His bond is set at $15,000, records show.

According to a newly filed affidavit referenced by the Austin American-Statesman, Wicks told police he had bought the AR-15 with plans to kill students and perceived enemies at McCallum High School. “He envisioned how police, firemen and where the news would be after he shot these people and how he would kill everybody,” according to the document as reported by the Statesman.

The report adds that law enforcement officials did not locate Wicks on the night the threats were made, but Austin school district police took no chances and locked the campus down the next day. Additional safety measures included the dispatching of 10 officers to the campus.

Wicks subsequently was picked up as he tried entering his home, the newspaper reported. It's unclear if any weapons, including the AR-15 that Wicks claimed to have purchased, were found. Campus police later tweeted that additional threats were made to the school after Wicks' arrest, and the Statesman reported that a second juvenile suspect has been arrested in connection to the threats.

Just over 40 percent of students attended class in the wake of the threats, the newspaper reported.
