Threat Delays Classes At Northwest Austin School
Reagan Early College High School operated on a two-hour delay Monday morning after an unspecified threat was made against the campus.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — No danger was found on the campus of Reagan Early College High School in Northeast Austin Monday morning after school officials reported that a threat had been made against the school.
Still, school officials opted to delay the start of classes by two hours in an abundance of caution. Classes started at 11 a.m., according to a letter sent to parents.
“Early this morning, campus administration became aware of an alleged threat made to our campus at Reagan High School,” the letter read. However, school officials did not specify the nature of the threat. "Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence of AISD (Austin Independent School District) police at the campus.”

School officials urged parents with additional questions to call (512) 414-2523.
The incident is the latest in a rash of potential threats reported by schools in recent days, about a month after a serial bomber terrorized the city with lethal parcel bombs that killed two people and injured others. Just this Sunday, University of Texas at Austin campus police said a Houston man had made threats against the school remotely. The suspect, Sean Evan Haddon, 23, was later arrested in Harris County after detectives traced the threatening calls to his location.

On April 6, students were evacuated from Cedar Ridge High School after a suspicious package was found in the mail room before the item was deemed non-threatening. Just eight days before that, Round Rock ISD officials evacuated students from their classrooms after an empty box left outside Round Rock portable classrooms at Canyon Vista Middle School raised suspicion. That container also was found to be benign, just an empty cardboard box that had been left unattended.
