The Temple Daily Telegram newspaper reported that Rogers was previously charged with several assault-family violence charges filed by the Cedar Park Police Department and Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, he was charged with violation of protective order, the newspaper reported. According to jail records, all those previous arrests occurred between 2005 and 2006.
Citing the ongoing nature of their investigation, police have not disclosed the details behind the murder or a possible motive.
A pair of GoFundMe campaigns have since been launched, one to raise funds toward creating a scholarship in Callison's honor and the other designed to assist the wife of the suspect in dealing with the aftermath of the violence.
The former drive has a goal of raising $20,000 of which $1,570 had been collected at last check. The fund drive's organizer noted on the site the scholarship will benefit children of military members given Callison's similar background. Donations can be made through the GoFundMe account dubbed "Stormie's Legacy" or via the PayPal account tawney@LouisianaHeroesProject.org. More details on the effort can be found by visiting www.LouisianaHeroesProject.org.
A separate GoFundMe account was launched to benefit a woman said to be Rogers' wife, Heather Hunt, and her two children, now traumatized after the murder that occurred in the family home, according to the page.
"Through this chaos, Heather is tasked with rebuilding her and her children's lives," the page reads. "The family recognizes that the deceased female is a victim of this senseless tragedy and they are fully cooperating with investigators, to assist in her and her loved ones getting justice. As her sister, I am asking first for prayers. Prayers for all who have been effected [sic] by this tragic event."
The fund seeks to raise $15,000 to cover the counseling, moving costs and to help bridge the financial gap as the family is reduced to a one-income household, according to the page. The drive has collected $4,230 at last check.
