YWCA Greater Austin Vies For Chance To Play 'Rock Paper Scissors' With $8,000 Prize
As part of the 2017 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge, those raising most money between Oct. 17-24 get chance to compete.

AUSTIN, TX — YWCA Greater Austin officials are hoping to play an enjoyable game of Rock Paper Scissors later this week but for a decidedly serious cause and a chance at winning $8,000.
As part of the 2017 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge, the two organizations raising the most money between Oct. 17 starting at 1 p.m. local time and Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. will then go on to a Rock Paper Scissors match. The victor gets a $8,000 donation, with the organization "losing" the match receiving $4,000.
So, really, everybody wins. But the bigger prize, naturally, further advances the multi-faceted mission of YWCA Greater Austin. Chiefly, the organization provides financial empowerment services to domestic violence survivors by providing free trauma-informed multicultural and linguistically appropriate counseling services for survivors. The organization also connects families in crisis to emergency child care subsidies.
