1. Odessa residents issued a water refund following July odor concerns (yourbasin.com) — Odessa water customers will see a $14.20 credit on their September bill after July's smelly tap water complaints, which officials traced to an improperly flushed regional water line. City leaders say the refund equals about a week's average household use and could cover the entire bill for roughly 30% of residential customers, though businesses and yard meters aren't included.

2. Odessa City Council responds to blowback regarding potential Bike Park closure (yourbasin.com) — Odessa officials are weighing whether to sell the land used by the long-running Odessa Mountain Bike Park, prompting passionate pushback from riders and families at this week's City Council meeting. The city says there's no formal offer yet and promises to help relocate the park if the lease ends, while a petition to keep it has drawn nearly 2,000 signatures.

3. MCH Family Health Clinics awarded $650K federal grant to expand primary care in Permian Basin (firstalert7.com) — Medical Center Health System in Odessa has secured a $650,000 federal grant that officially designates its Family Health Clinics as Federally Qualified Health Centers. That status will expand primary care and chronic disease treatment at four Ector County clinic locations, improving access for local residents and opening doors to additional federal funding in the future.

4. Sexual assault suspect now facing charges in second case (oaoa.com) — An Odessa 17-year-old is now jailed and facing a second sexual assault accusation, this time involving a 17-year-old girl who reported an attack at her home. He was previously arrested in February after a younger girl reported an assault at Floy Gwin Park; prosecutors say that earlier case is still under review and no charges have been filed yet.

5. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library continues in Ector County after her passing (firstalert7.com) — Families in Odessa and Ector County can expect Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to keep mailing free books to children from birth to age 5, even after Parton's passing. Local sponsors and the Ector County Library say the program is growing young readers, building communication skills, and honoring Parton's legacy with thousands of kids already enrolled.
