Baytown Courthouse Renamed For Slain Lawman

HOUSTON, TX -- The Harris County Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to rename the Harris County Court Annex in Baytown in honor of Asst Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood, who was gunned down there on April 3.
The push to rename the Baytown annex has been in the works for three years, but there were no names worthy of the honor until the earlier this month.
Officials who worked with Greenwood made the suggestion to Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman earlier this month, made the motion to the court.

The measure was unanimously approved by the court.
Greenwood, 57, was ambushed outside the Baytown courthouse annex by William Kenny, 64, who held a long-standing grudge against law enforcement officers.
Kenny would take his own life a day later with the same gun he used to kill Greenwood.
Meanwhile, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said the new signs for the annex are expected to be installed on the annex in Baytown within weeks.
