Broadway said when the man hit him, it rung his bell, but not enough to keep him from demanding why he’d been hit in the first place.

The thief told Broadway he wanted his wallet, which Broadway said he would have given to him if he’d had just asked.

He handed his wallet over and waved to the thief as he drove off in a small pickup truck.

In hindsight, Broadway said he wishes he’d taken a photo of the pickup as the thief was driving away.

Broadway was taken to the emergency room and released later that morning.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
