7 Texas Siblings Orphaned By Car Wreck
A tragic accident left seven siblings without parents. The community is standing up to help them.

PLANO, TX — Two Garland parents are dead after a tragic car accident last week when they were coming home from a camping trip with their children, prompting a friend to set up a GoFundMe page to help out their kids. Michael Scott Owen, 52, and Jennifer Owen, 47, died of their injuries after a car accident on April 23. They had seven children.
Dr. Craig Curry, pastor of First Baptist Church of Plano, is asking the community's help. "Scott and Jennifer Owen were faithful leaders in our church and in the community," he said in a statement, according to the church's Facebook page.
The Owens family, except for their oldest child, 23-year-old Ethan, were coming home from their trip on Monday when the car lost control, crashing. Michael died the next morning and Jennifer died Thursday.

Ethan is now head of the family and is faced with the task of making medical decisions concerning his hospitalized siblings.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with costs. As of publishing, they've raised $53,741 of their $250,000 goal with donations anywhere from $5 to $5,000. Once burial and medical costs are taken care of, the remainder of the money will go to a long-term trust managed by a third party, the GoFundMe page said.
"This family is precious to us and we will do everything we can to help the Owen children now and in the future. We are asking any and all who are able to donate funds to support these kids," Pastor Curry said in the statement.
