• Judge Orders Texas State to Reinstate Robinson (dailynous.com) — A federal judge has ordered Texas State University in San Marcos to reinstate philosophy professor Idris Robinson with pay while his First Amendment lawsuit proceeds. The preliminary injunction keeps him employed for up to a year or until the case is resolved, after he was fired following a talk on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
   

• Hays County DA drops charges against San Marcos man at center of ICE detention case (cbsaustin.com) — Hays County prosecutors have dropped a criminal charge against a San Marcos man whose March traffic-stop arrest led to his detention by federal immigration authorities, while offering pretrial diversion to his 17-year-old son. The DA’s office said San Marcos officers acted within their authority but later concluded the situation resembled a parent seeking help, as a local advocacy group continues to push for the father’s release from ICE custody.
   

• Purple Thunder defense reloaded for 2026 (sanmarcosrecord.com) — San Marcos High’s “Purple Thunder” defense returns most of its key playmakers and aims to match last season’s strong performance, even after losing two Division I standouts. Coaches highlight leaders like linebacker Cameron Bundage and a seasoned secondary, and note the Rattlers will skip their usual spring game and head straight into summer workouts.
