Hays County Elections warns residents about fake voter registration letter (kxan.com) — Hays County election officials in San Marcos are warning residents about a fake voter registration letter that includes a QR code leading to a website asking for personal information. Locals are urged not to scan the code or share data, and instead contact the Elections Office on Stagecoach Trail with any questions ahead of the November election.
   

4. Hill Country braces for potentially life-threatening flooding this week (click2houston.com) — San Marcos is under a flood watch through at least Friday night as days of heavy rain threaten dangerous flooding across Central Texas. Local residents who remember the 2015 Memorial Day floods are watching the rivers closely, even as drainage improvements offer some reassurance. State officials have deployed rescue crews, equipment, and National Guard resources and urge everyone never to drive through flooded roads.
   

5. Gonzaga unveils full 2026-27 schedule, will open Pac-12 season with rivalry matchup at WSU (theolympian.com) — Gonzaga's new Pac-12 men's basketball schedule includes a road game against Texas State in San Marcos on Feb. 25, bringing a high-profile matchup to local fans.
