- Mosey on down to the Briscoe Western Art Museum on Saturday, July 23 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.! The venue located at 210 W. Market St. will be "celebrating the National Day of the Cowboy" with an annual festival featuring "a scavenger hunt, stick-pony barrel racing, horseshoe toss, dress-up and balloon animals, saddle- and spur-making, rawhide braiding, food, live music" and much more! For more details, call 210-299-4499 or check out the website at briscoemuseum.org and visit: (San Antonio Current)
- On Wednesday, July 20, Taco Cabana will start offering "12 margarita flavors all day, every day at its San Antonio locations!" Ulyses Camacho, chief operating officer at Taco Cabana, said, "We are now thrilled to establish ourselves as the 'Margarita Headquarters' with so many margarita flavors for our guests to choose from each and every day." Besides the margarita specials, "the chain will launch its summertime happy hour" today, July 20, with "$2 lime or strawberry margaritas and $2 domestic beers, and bean and cheese chalupas for $1.50 and $1 bean and cheese tacos." Happy hour for the rest of the summer will take place Sunday-Thursday from 4-7 p.m. (mySA)
- On Tuesday, July 19, a young woman rescued an elderly female relative who was stabbed by a middle-aged woman "just before 11 a.m. at Rivercenter Mall." According to police, "the elderly woman in her 70s was in the bathroom when she got into altercation with a woman in her 30s... the younger woman pulled out a knife and started stabbing the elderly woman several times. A juvenile relative of the elderly woman went into the bathroom... pulled out her own knife and stabbed the suspect... the suspect ran off to the upper levels of the mall where she collapsed. She was immediately taken into custody by the San Antonio Police." Per the latest reports, the older woman is hospitalized "in critical condition" but there is no information "on the condition of the suspect." The case is still under investigation. (WOAI)
- "After 95 years, St. Gerard Catholic School in San Antonio is closing its doors." The school located at 521 S. New Braunfels Ave. "was established in 1927." Unfortunately, there were only 35 students enrolled for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. According to "a statement from the Archdiocese of San Antonio," this "would put the projected deficit for operations at more than $500,000." The financial difficulties caused by "lack of enrollment" were partially "blamed on the coronavirus pandemic." The Archdiocese and the Department of Catholic Schools are now helping "currently enrolled students transition to other Catholic high schools in San Antonio and including possible financial aid for tuition at those campuses." (KSAT San Antonio)
- On Tuesday, July 19, a 34-year-old man was shot "during an attempted carjacking" around 2 a.m. According to police, the "man was in his vehicle at a convenience store on IH-10" when "someone tried to steal his vehicle and shot him in the chest. The victim drove to friend's house on North Calaveras Street and called for help." He is now at "University Hospital and is expected to recover," but the "description of the shooter" is unknown, and police are still investigating. For more on this case visit: (550 KTSA)
