The work will reconfigure ramps and intersections over seven miles to cut crashes and travel times, with most lane closures happening overnight through 2029, so commuters should start planning alternate routes now.

Green card delays are leaving some San Antonio refugee families without SNAP benefits, advocates say (ksat.com) — Refugee families in San Antonio are losing access to SNAP benefits while they wait months or even years for green cards, according to the Center for Refugee Services. Local advocates describe hundreds of low-income families, many with several children, turning to food pantries and community support as federal eligibility rules tighten and the city's refugee population continues to grow.
   

3. 2 San Antonio kids reunite with mother after wandering alone in Nuevo Laredo, Mexican agency says (ksat.com) — Two young San Antonio siblings who were found alone and asking for money in Nuevo Laredo have now been safely reunited with their mother at the Laredo border, Mexican officials say. Tamaulipas state guards took the children to a DIF shelter, which then coordinated with Texas Child Protective Services and the U.S. Consulate to return them home.
   

4. Raymond Jon Dameron (bluebonnetnews.com) — Family and friends are mourning Raymond Jon Dameron, who was born in San Antonio in 1955 and passed away on August 24 at age 70. His obituary honors the close family bonds he leaves behind, remembers relatives who preceded him in death, and notes that arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home for those wishing to pay respects or send flowers.
   

5. Uvalde CISD board names lone finalist for superintendent (ksat.com) — Uvalde's school board has named interim leader Juan Hinojosa as the lone finalist for superintendent, with his contract expected to start Sept. 17 after a required waiting period. Hinojosa previously worked in San Antonio's Harlandale ISD, including as executive director and Harlandale Middle School principal, tying this leadership change to experience in a neighboring district.
