  1. "As part of the Biden Administration's initiative to help combat the spread of the omicron COVID-19 variant," the distribution of Free N95 masks began this past weekend, with each person limited to 3 free masks. "Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a list of pharmacies that will be distributing the free masks, as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program." 2. A prayer service was recently held for Lina Sardar Khil, who disappeared "from the playground of a northwest side apartment complex in San Antonio on December 20, 2021." The service took place at the Muslim Children Education and Civic Center (MCECC) and dozens of community members attended, including Ron Nirenberg, Mayor of San Antonio. He said, "I want you to know that Lina Sardar Khil is a daughter of San Antonio and so long as she is not here with us, the search will continue, and we'll extend to the farther reach that we need it to go." For any information regarding Lina's disappearance, please contact the San Antonio Police Department's Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867. (KENS5.com)
  3. Tres leches lattes and hot teas and homemade pan dulce, oh my! If you follow the road to 8701 FM1560, there's a coffee trailer called Mas Cafe Por Favor that serves all that and more! The place is so popular that they sell out every single day," but owner Stephany Cardenas-Massey says it hasn't always been easy. She said, "I booked a class in Seattle Academy to be a barista. I got certified. I bought an espresso machine. I would just come home practice, practice, practice...After that, we started looking into opening a brick-and-mortar place downtown. But those plans fell through when the pandemic hit." Fortunately, she had her mobile trailer, and that is what saved her business. Besides unique drink options, the venue sells "pan dulce" through a partnership with La Concha Latina. Cardenas-Massey credits the coffee community for making her coffee business dream come true. She said, "I think I've been blessed in that area that I need to do that, and it feels good doing it too...The faces when you help them. It's magical." 4. A California-based burrito joint called Stuffed recently opened up in San Antonio at 4963 NW Loop 410. Owners Sanny and Dimitri Karimbakas who are originally from California said, "they love everything about San Antonio, but miss their comfort food from home," so that's why they decided to start their shop. Their menu features hefty signature dishes such as burritos with "carne asada meat, cheese, French fries, and pico de gallo, and sour cream with guacamole." As the venue's name "Stuffed" implies, you'll probably feel full after a few bites of their tasty burritos, so you may consider enjoying them as an "all-day meal." Burrito menu prices range from $10.49 to $15.39, and their hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. For more details, visit: (mySA)
