  1. On Saturday, March 26, the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) will be holding a critical needs job fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Alamo Convocation Center, located at 110 Tuleta Drive. Certified educators will be recruited for the 2022-23 school year, and "limited pre-hire opportunities will be offered to qualified individuals." Those interested need to take copies of their resumes and register in advance by filling out this form, but if you're not able to attend, you can request "through the registration form" to meet with a recruiter virtually. Please note that face masks will be required to participate in the in-person event. For a list of critical needs area positions, please visit: (Press Release Desk)
  2. After almost 30 years, Kroger is coming back to San Antonio! The local stores originally closed down in 1993 because "the company and employees failed to agree on wage and benefits cuts with the two unions representing the area's clerks and meat-cutters." Now "the Cincinnati-based grocer is establishing a 67,000-square-foot fulfillment center in northeast San Antonio for its Kroger delivery service" and will employ over 160 residents in various fields. Tom Long, managing director for industrial with greater SATX, said, "We're proud to welcome Kroger's e-commerce-focused delivery model into San Antonio." For more information visit: (mySA)
  3. Splash pad season is coming back to town this weekend, just in time for Spring Break!
The splash pads opened on Friday, March 4, and are free and open to the public from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at various San Antonio parks.
Homer Garcia III, director of Parks and Recreation, said, "With Spring Break around the corner, it's a great time to open the city's splash pads for families and visitors to enjoy." For a list of local parks with splash pads, please visit: (mySA)
  4. Barbecue fans, mark your calendars! The Smoke BBQ + RiverBar will be opening on Tuesday, March 15 at 511 Villita St., next to the Arneson River Theater! "The venue is the 'largest patio' on the River Walk with space for up to 400 guests in a cocktail setting" and "indoor seating for about 80 people." Owner Adrian Martinez said, "The River Walk is a special place for our city and the opportunity to bring our home grown brand to the water is priceless." For more details visit: (KENS5.com)
