The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in San Antonio.

Hello again, neighbors! Gabriela Cantu Couvillion here with your fresh copy of the San Antonio Daily, full of everything you need to know about what's going on in town. Let's do it...

First, today's weather:

Sunshine and very warm. High: 100 Low: 77.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in San Antonio who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our San Antonio Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. After serving as "Bexar County judge for more than 20 years," and "in numerous other leadership positions in our community, such as San Antonio mayor," Nelson Wolff spoke with Leading SA on Sunday, July 31, "to talk about recent issues in the city and his legacy." For the full interview and more information, please visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  2. On Saturday, July 30, Mr. and Mrs. G's Restaurant, located on the East Side at 2222 S. WW White Rd., closed "its doors for good." Unfortunately, it became very difficult and costly to upkeep such as old building, but after an era of serving delicious and hearty dishes, the restaurant owners now just "want it to be remembered as more than just Soul Food." For the full story and a news video visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  3. The 28th annual San Antonio Film Festival will take place from Aug. 2-7 at the Radius Center, located at 106 Auditorium Circle. According to Adam Rocha, festival founder and executive director, this year's event will feature "films that are more story-driven and are stories about people." There will be "220 films playing on three screens," including "feature-length films" and "several blocks of short films plus multiple movies made by San Antonians and free panels featuring filmmakers." Click HERE to purchase your badges and tickets and see a list of film titles with details at: (San Antonio Magazine)
  4. On Sunday, July 31, 12-year-old Destannie Flores was reported as missing. The young girl "was last seen on the 4000 block of Ty Terrace," located on the "northwest side of San Antonio." She is described as "5'3" tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes." She also "has braces on her top and bottom teeth." The last time she was seen, she was "wearing light blue pants, black tennis shoes, and carrying a green backpack with polka dots on it" Anyone with information is asked to please call the San Antonio Police
Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660. (KENS5.com)
  5. This past weekend, "a man was arrested after he crashed into a home" at 7414 Midcrown Drive, "on the Northeast side" part of town. According to police, the man left a hole on the house when he crashed onto it, but he "did stay at the scene after the accident" and was arrested. Fortunately, there was no one inside the building at the time, and the driver was not injured. San Antonio Fire Department officials still stayed "to make sure the home was safe for residents and also sealed the home with plastic until homeowners" could repair it. (FOX 29)

From my notebook:

  • "Registration is open for the 37th Annual Zoo Run presented by H-E-B! Take a wild jaunt through the San Antonio Zoo where you can take in the sights and sounds of animals while securing a future for wildlife. For more information and to register, click here and visit their website at (sazoo.org)." (San Antonio Zoo via Instagram)
  • San Antonio Pets Alive! is sad to announce that one of their most passionate fosters, Joyce Howard, passed away this month. Joyce started her adventure with San Antonio Pets Alive! in 2016 and fostered more than 300 kittens and cats. Joyce provided her expertise to other fosters, mentoring and guiding them. She was a joy to be around and always a favorite to hang out with at adoption events. One of their fosters said, "Joyce was a dedicated foster and a wonderful human being. We need more kind souls like her in this world." (San Antonio Pets Alive! via Instagram)
  • "Reminder: Everyone is going through something we know nothing about. Be kind today. ♥️" (Nextdoor)
