Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. For the past five years, District 10 Councilman Clayton Perry has been working on plans for a new trail in San Antonio. On Tuesday, March 22, those plans became a reality when he, along with CPS and parks and recreation officials, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the construction of a new trail at the CPS Energy Tuttle Training Center. The trail "will connect the historic Perrin Homestead to the Lady Bird Johnson Park, which has a connection to the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System." Perry said, "I'm so happy to have come up with this plan to connect the Perrin Homestead site that is one of the last ranch houses here in San Antonio from the old 1800s." He added, "We're in the process of renovating that facility right now to take it back to its original condition for people to come and go and see what it was like living back in those days." The project which "is about 20 to 30 percent done" should be completely finished sometime this year and will hopefully open in 2023. For more details visit: (mySA)
  2. A local celebrity known as Hispanic Elvis "is back in hospice care after recently being hospitalized with COVID-19." His brother, George Cisneros, said, "I know a lot of you are wondering what happen to him. Well, things aren't going too well. He`s been put on hospice now. I was told to make funeral arrangements for him... which I've done already. A lot of people have emailed me how they miss seeing him at Market Square and hope he`s doing better. I really appreciate everyone's concern for him." Before Hispanic Elvis became ill, the 76 year old "was always seen down on Market Street in his colorful outfits, taking photos with people as he paid tribute to Elvis Presley." Now a local artist named Colton Valentine is paying tribute to Hispanic Elvis through a beautiful mural that he painted on San Pedro Avenue and W. Cypress Street, which depicts the local celebrity riding on his bike, wearing his cape, shades and colorful outfit, with the Alamo showing in the background. If you would like to help Hispanic Elvis with his medical expenses, please consider donating to his GoFundMe page organized by his brother. For more updates visit: (WOAI)
  3. Arrosta Italian Restaurant, which originally "only offered breakfast and lunch when it opened on Feb. 14," will now be expanding its hours and offering dinner on their menu. The venue located at 1803 Broadway in the Oxbow building will now be open 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m., from Monday-Friday. For more information visit: (San Antonio Current)
  4. Presale tickets are available now for the 4th annual Wine Fest, hosted by The Tower of the Americas, to be held on Saturday, April 23 from 2-5 p.m. at 739 East Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. The event will feature wine samples "from 24 wineries from Sonoma County in California, along "with chef-inspired appetizers and live entertainment." Presale tickets are $45, and tickets purchased on the day of the event will be $50. Members of Landry's Select club members can buy their tickets for $40, and VIP tickets will be $65, with one-hour early entry. Military members with a valid ID will receive a discount, and all "festival attendees must be at least 21 years old and show valid ID." For more details please visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
