Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. For the past two years, Easter camping has not been allowed at San Antonio city parks due to COVID-19, but this year "the typical park curfew will be lifted at nine city parks for the Easter holiday." According to city officials, "the curfew lifts at 11 p.m. on Thursday and resumes at 11 p.m. Sunday." Homer Garcia III, director of parks and recreation, said, "We're excited to bring back this San Antonio Easter tradition after being on hold during the last two years. Families, friends and neighbors can enjoy spending time together again, outdoors, in our city's beautiful green spaces." He added, "We encourage visitors to do their part to ensure our parks remain clean by disposing of litter and recyclables properly. Whatever you pack into the park, please remember to pack it out." For a list of local parks where Easter camping will be allowed, please visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  2. Eight San Antonio restaurants were chosen to compete in the annual CultureMap Tastemaker Awards Best New Restaurant tournament, and now it's time for you to vote for your favorite! The tournament starts with the eight nominees, "and the winner from each matchup moves on to the next round, until only one remains." The inaugural event will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at The Espee live awards program, where the "Best New Restaurant champion" will be announced. Tickets for the event are on sale now. 3. This past February 7-year-old Mateo Lopez from San Antonio was named "the youngest professional mariachi singer" by the "Guiness Book of World Records." His mother, Janelle Lopez, said, "To start out at 4 years old and to do what he has done already in three years, I still can't wrap my mind around it." Besides singing, Mateo also plays piano and guitar, and has appeared on "Mexico's Got Talent and NBC's Little Big Shots." Mateo said that when he puts on his mariachi "traje" (suit), he "feels excited, brave and strong." He said, "That's what makes me proud. And I feel really happy that I'm like the only one person out of like... I don't know... 5,000 million people in the whole world." For more visit: (San Antonio Current)
