Here are the top 3 stories today in San Antonio:

  1. After many New Year's events were canceled last year, residents of San Antonio have plenty of options for ringing in 2022. On the docket this New Year's weekend is the beloved annual Celebrate SA event, hosted by San Antonio Parks Foundation. There's also a Pajamas and Pancakes New Year's Eve party at Backyard on Broadway, and on Jan. 1, Austin-based Americana artist Parker McCollum will be playing at the AT&T Center. (culturemap.com)
  2. Ahead of Celebrate SA, event organizers urge attendees to get tested for COVID-19 before they join the city's downtown New Year's Eve bash. An anticipated 70,000 to 100,000 people are expected to attend the free event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight and feature food and drinks, live entertainment, and fireworks. "We'll have sanitizing stations through the event and we are encouraging attendees to wear masks, social distance, and to get a negative COVID test before attending," said Celebrate SA spokeswoman Libby Day. (Texas Public Radio)
  3. Want a six-figure job? Stay in San Antonio: According to a study published by Stessa, the San Antonio-New Braunfels metro region saw a 163 percent increase in six-figure jobs from 2015 to 2020 — the largest percentage increase among Texas cities. The study found that 5.7 percent of the area's workforce — 56,780 workers — brought in six-figure salaries in 2020, up from 21,590 five years prior. (KSAT San Antonio)
