Here are the top five stories today in San Antonio:

  1. Spheres of Reflection, created by San Antonio artist Kaldric Dow, was recently featured in a New York Times newspaper story titled "Celebrating Black History Month? These 5 Cities Are Going All Out." The artist's work of art is actually a 17-foot steel-and-concrete structure that stands at the entrance of Martin Luther King Park, located at 3503 Martin Luther King Drive, and it's the artist's first piece of public art. "Dow worked with the city to create the sculpture, which is his first piece of public art." According to the newspaper, "the 'Spheres of Reflection' sculpture at Martin Luther King Park is a 'must-see any time of the year.'" For more information visit: (KENS5.com)
  2. A new country bar called "El Honky Tonk" is coming to downtown San Antonio, just in time for rodeo season! The venue located at 316 N. Flores St. "will hold a soft opening Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26." The bar will feature "a no-nonsense lineup of spirits and cold beer" along with famous country tunes playing in the background. The restaurant will also be open for lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and guests will be able to choose from a selection of Tex-Mex meals on the menu. For more details visit: (San Antonio Current)
  3. This past October, the Official Fest of Tails Yappy Hour was held in the city of San Antonio. The fest was sponsored by San Antonio Parks Foundation, Texas Public Radio, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and Hops & Hounds. During the event, the four organizations "raised enough money to give the uptown McAllister Park a makeover" and recently they "finished repairs on the dog water fountains damaged in last year's freeze." On Saturday, March 12, they're planning another pet lover's event and on Saturday, March 19, they hope to finish installing agility courses for pets at the park.
