Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. Summer is coming up and if you want your kids to enjoy "fun in the sun" during the break, there are three free family-friendly events taking place at splash pads around town. The first will be on Thursday, June 9 from 10 a.m.-noon at Hemisfair's Yanaguana Garden splash pad at 434 South Alamo St. The second will take place Tuesday, June 14 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Voigt Park splash pad located at 700 El Portal. The third will be held Thursday, July 14 from 10 a.m.-noon at Pearsall Park's splash pad on 4838 Old Pearsall Road. For more details click here and visit: (KENS5.com)
  2. After missing for 2 years, a dog was finally "reunited with his owner." Recently "a good Samaritan" found him close to home and turned him in to the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS). When the owner saw her "fur baby" on the ACS website, she immediately called and when they met again, she said, "He wrapped his paws around my arm and held me tight." Although "this 'tail' had a happy ending," that doesn't always happen. When animals are not microchipped, as was the case with this dog, it takes longer to find them or sometimes they're never found. Per ACS, "this story should serve as a reminder that that chip could make the difference in whether you find your lost 4-legged companion or not." (WOAI)
  3. A new Black Rifle Coffee Co. shop will be brewing soon at Live Oak, on Interstate 35 at IKEA-RBFCU Parkway. "The veteran-founded, military-centric coffee brand" company "plans to build a 2,418-square-foot 'new coffee shop' with construction expected to begin in October and finish out by mid-January 2023." Once completed, it will be the third location in San Antonio. "The coffee company has one store in San Antonio on Bitters Road that opened in August and has another planned at 22151 Bulverde Road." For more information visit: (mySA)
  4. San Antonio Northeast Independent School District (NEISD) will soon kick off "its Summer Food Service Program." The program provides "students 18 and under" with "breakfast and lunch" during the summer months. Sharon Glosson, executive director of NEISD School Nutrition Services, said, "More than half of the families in NEISD are considered economically disadvantaged and depend on school meals for daily nutrition. The summer meal program gives children access to nutritious meals all summer." For details visit the program's website and read: (mySA)
  5. If you want to eat out but can't decide where to go, there are so many "first-rate San Antonio restaurants to choose from," so "figuring out where to dine" may take a while. "From a Texas-forward bistro housed in a building that dates back to 1904, to one of the country's only South American-Asian fusion eateries, to restaurants with stellar brunch menus," San Antonio has it all! To help you decide, please check out "a curated list of 12 unique San Antonio restaurants to please every kind of palate" by visiting: (mySA)

Are you a San Antonio resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)

To learn more, visit Masterworks.io, where San Antonio Daily readers can skip the waitlist.
