Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- On Tuesday, March 8, a group of teenagers created "the first local survey of its kind about mental health issues" for young people between the ages of 12-19. "The questionnaire covers an array of tough topics that will help community youth leaders improve mental health care in San Antonio." The teens who created the survey are from the San Antonio Youth Commission and the Metro Health's Project Worth programs. Michael Martinez, chair of the San Antonio Youth Commission and Project Worth Teen Ambassador, said, "Mental health is an issue affecting a lot of people our age. It's a chronic problem, and most of us are not getting the help we actually need." Melody Woosley, director of the Department of Human Services, added, "The Youth Commission and the ambassadors, they will take the results of this and make recommendations on what initiatives or what services the community needs." The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, April 8. Take the survey here and visit for details: (KSAT San Antonio)
- Four high school students from San Antonio will screen "their submitted works in the Texas High School Shorts Program" starting Saturday, March 12 at Austin's SXSW film festival. The students are Saint Mary's Hall student William Herff, Warren High School senior Makayla Esparza, Marshall High School junior Kyle Ward, and East Central High School senior Angel Ruiz. Herff is screening two films, including a horror/thriller; Esparza submitted a short animation movie; Ward is screening a documentary and Ruiz, a psychological thriller. "All four local aspiring moviemakers say this year will be their first time participating at SXSW and that they look forward to unveiling their creative works for the live audiences that are allowed to gather at SXSW for the first time in two years." We are humbly reaching out to you and our community to help us secure a large metal shipping container or storage shed to store our animals' food safely. If you, your business, or someone you know can donate a 20-foot metal shipping container or storage shed please reach out to us by emailing donate@sanantoniopetsalive.org. If you would like to make a gift, please visit https://www.sanantoniopetsalive.org." (Instagram)
