- According to a report by Tech Bloc and Port San Antonio, "San Antonio's information technology industry generates an annual economic impact of nearly $11 billion and employs 48,000 people." Trinity University Professors Emeriti Richard Butler and Mary Stefl" did most of the research. The information was "based on the most recent workforce and economic data available through the end of 2021 from the Texas Workforce Commission and other sources." - Dunnhumby eCommerce Retailer Preference Index ranked San Antonio-based H-E-B "the top online grocery retailer," followed by Amazon and Amazon Fresh, among others. The ranking was based "on customer preference drivers of owned digital asset usage, ease and reliability, substitutes, products, and price." Grant Steadman, president of Dunnhumby, said, "H-E-B's impressive performance proves that it's possible to compete and win against Amazon when it comes to grocery e-commerce. Their success offers midsize and regional retailers a road map on how to succeed online." (mySA)
- According to 'Fortune' magazine and Great Place to Work, "some of the state's top employers to work for are right here in San Antonio." Top employers were chosen from two categories: "small and midsize employers, and large employers." Local special education services provider, AIM, "ranked No. 7 on the small and midsize employers list." The large employers list included San Antonio's NuStar Energy, which ranked No. 12, and USAA at No. 15. For the full list of "the Best Companies to Work For in 2022" visit: (culturemap.com)
- Despite the ragged state of San Antonio's "Miraflores" park on Broadway and Hildebrand, the 5-acre area "is breathtaking and magical, and the man who created it remains one of Texas' most mysterious characters." Dr. Aureliano Urrutia was "one of the best doctors in the city," and his property built in 1921 was originally on 15 acres. His great-granddaughter, Anne Elise Urrutia, wrote a book titled "Miraflores: San Antonio's Mexican Garden of Memory" from Trinity Press. UTSA Honors College teacher John Phillip Santos said, "The daring and the audacity that Urrutia brought to this story is really kind of unparalleled. I'm hoping Elise's book is going to help spark a renewal of curiosity about this legacy." (Texas Public Radio)
