  1. Two University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) researchers in partnership with colleagues at Louisiana State University (LSU) recently examined the "urban effects on thunderstorms in Southeastern cities." The study was done to "better understand the impact that urban environments have on storms and rainfall." As a result of the collaboration, a NASA-supported research paper was written and "published in the May 2022 issue of Urban Climate." For details visit: (UTSA Today)
  2. City Public Service (CPS) Energy has a new alert system with "four levels to help conserve power in the heat" and "help lower your power bill." The levels are "Green for go," meaning "use electricity as you want" but follow CPS tips to save on your bill. Yellow means "use caution" and not use "large appliances after 10 p.m." Orange signifies "a potential grid reliability risk" so you should "limit your power usage." Red "means there are rotating outages," so "if you lose power, turn off all lights, appliances and A/C and keep the refrigerator closed so food does not spoil." The new venue will be located "in a storied building on East Grayson" that was previously "Boehler's Liberty Saloon and then Liberty Bar" on 239 East Grayson St. The "menu, led by Executive Chef Jaime Gonzalez," will feature South Texan cuisine such as "botana platers, barbacoa, brisket, and a masa program," as well as "a 'robust' cocktail and beverage program."
