Police ID Girl Found Dead In Southern Travis County
Lielle Kaplan, 9, was found mortally shot alongside Yariv Kaplan, 42, a software engineer at a cyber security firm who killed himself.

SOUTH AUSTIN, TX β The Travis County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified the little girl found shot dead in a southern Travis County home where her body was found alongside that of a man believed to be her father who killed himself.
The child has been identified at Lielle Kaplan, 9, of Travis County. On Tuesday, officials identified the dead man as Yariv Kaplan, 42. Both were found with gunshot wounds after deputies went to the home at 8001 El Dorado after someone called asking them to check on their well-being on Monday.
Law enforcement officials previously said the elder Kaplan died of a self-inflicted wound and the case is being investigated as homicide. It's not clear if the two were father and daughter, but the theorized likelihood of this relationship is heightened given the shared surname.

Sheriff's officials have provided details piecemeal, with three separate advisories in as many days since Monday's grisly discovery. Responding to the welfare check call, a deputy arrived at the home around 5:44 a.m. on Monday to check on the Kaplans.
According to the sheriff's office, the first deputy on scene got no response from the home's occupants after knocking on the door, prompting him to peer through a window. What he saw β the details of which have not been disclosed β prompted entry into the home after determining the victims were in need of immediate assistance.
The circumstances that led to the murder-suicide are still a mystery. In other media reports, neighbors described the elder Kaplan as inaccessible, driving his car into the garage of the home before locking it each day without socializing with other residents.
