Fort Bend ISD Schools Double Up While Some Repair Damage

Juan Seguin ES splits students between Patterson ES and Crockett MS, while Willowridge HS students go To Marshall

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX — Students in the Fort Bend Independent School District returned to classes this week and will face challenges after flooding caused damages to several schools, resulting in the temporary closure of one campus.

Juan Seguin Elementary, which is in Richmond in the Grand Mission Subdivision, was heavily impacted by flooding from the Brazos River, which forced many of those students to flee their homes.

Goodman Elementary School and Burton Elementary School also sustained some flooding, but fared better and was able to open to students this week.

The shift of students into two different campuses merely adds to the burdens Fort Bend ISD has endured in recent months.

Students from Willowridge High School started the school year on the Thurgood Marshall High School campus after officials revealed the remediation process to remove black mold discovered in inside the school during construction in July would take longer than previously thought.

Students were expecting to return to the Willowridge High School Campus in mid-September, but with the recent flooding students may return for several more weeks.
