Houston developer sued after allegedly firing blind engineer on day 1 (lmtonline.com) — A Sugar Land real estate firm, Majestic Developers, is being sued by federal regulators, who allege the company fired a legally blind engineer after the first day instead of providing promised accommodations. The Sugar Land–founded company is simultaneously pursuing major growth, including a planned $9 million, 45,000-square-foot office project in the city targeted for completion by the end of 2026.
   

2. Fort Bend Epicenter Names Ernesto 'Chuly' Diaz As Exclusive Booking Agent & Talent Buyer (pollstar.com) — A major nearby venue just five minutes from Sugar Land has hired veteran Houston promoter Ernesto "Chuly" Diaz to exclusively book concerts and events, aiming to draw big-name acts to Fort Bend County. Diaz is already lining up a diverse slate of shows, starting with an Oct. 24 hip-hop showcase, which could give Sugar Land residents more live entertainment options close to home.
   

3. ISP Roundup: Kinetic passes new milestones in Concord, North Carolina (bbcmag.com) — Kinetic reports its fiber network in the Fort Bend County area, including Sugar Land, now passes about 40,000 homes after adding 7,600 new locations last year. While the article surveys broadband projects nationwide, this milestone signals faster internet options and ongoing infrastructure investment that could benefit Sugar Land households and businesses as expansion continues.
   

4. Testing Electric Aviation for Rural EMS (dronelife.com) — Electric aircraft developers and EMS partners are testing how battery-powered planes could support rural emergency response along a Texas route linking Galveston, Sugar Land and Brenham. For Sugar Land residents, the project is an early look at how future medical transports and disaster logistics might incorporate quieter, lower-emission aircraft without replacing existing helicopters or ambulances.
