Liberty-Eylau bass fishing team grows from one student to national competition (texarkanagazette.com) — In Texarkana Liberty-Eylau's student bass fishing team has grown from a single angler into a small but competitive squad fishing tournaments on big regional lakes. Led by educator and boat captain Ricky Rushing, the four-member high school team has already won at Wright Patman Lake and even qualified for a national championship in Georgia, inspiring more students to get involved.

2. T.L.L. Temple Foundation Awards $12,000 to For the Sake of One to Support Supervised Visitation (swark.today) — Families in the Texarkana area who rely on supervised visitation just got a boost, as For the Sake of One received a $12,000 grant to help keep visits safe and affordable. As the only supervised visitation center within about 80 miles of Texarkana, the nonprofit will use the funds to support trained staff so local parents and children can maintain court-ordered contact without facing big-city prices.

4. Duo jailed for turning Bowie County bathrooms into drug hub (ktalnews.com) — Two 22-year-olds are jailed after investigators say they repeatedly used the public restrooms at the Bowie County jail annex in downtown Texarkana as a drop spot for marijuana, tobacco, phones, and other contraband. Surveillance, vehicle records, and multiple restroom searches allegedly tied them to several August and early September incidents. Both now face multiple felony counts that could mean years in prison if convicted.

5. Wanted Texarkana man arrested at Walmart after August domestic violence shooting (ksla.com) — Texarkana residents should know that police arrested 31-year-old Marquaves Smith at a local Walmart after a shopper recognized him as wanted on several felony warrants. Authorities say the charges stem from an August domestic violence incident where a woman reported being pistol-whipped, threatened, and nearly shot while two children were inside the home. Detectives say physical evidence supported her account, leading to the warrants and Sunday's arrest.
