Healthy Choice Meals Recalled Due To Undeclared Allergen: USDA

The products are labeled as Korean-style beef but may contain a chicken-based ingredient with milk, according to an alert.

HARLINGEN, TX — Texas-based Valley International Cold Storage Acquisition is recalling more than 22,000 pounds of beef found in Healthy Choice frozen meals because the product is misbranded and may contain undeclared allergens such as milk.

The following product is affected by the recall:

  • 9.25-oz. cartons labeled as "Healthy Choice POWER BOWLS Korean-Style Beef" with lot code "5246220320" and a "best if used by" date of 04-18-2023.

The products are labeled as Korean-style beef but contain a chicken sausage and pepper product, which contains milk, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The issue was discovered when consumers complained the cartons contained a chicken-based product, according to the USDA.

The products subject to recall also bear sestablishment number "34622" on the end flap of the carton. The cartons were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

So far, no adverse reactions or illnesses have been reported, according to the USDA.

Consumers who have purchased the products and still have them in their freezer are urged not to consume them.
