Micah Thomas is an internationally touring pianist, composer and bandleader known for his dynamic work in contemporary jazz. A Juilliard graduate and Jerome L. Greene Fellow, Thomas leads his own trio and is a steady member of the Immanuel Wilkins Quartet. He also performs regularly as a sideman for Joshua Redman, Ambrose Akinmusire, Joel Ross and Nicole Glover, among others. His debut album,&nbsp;Tide&nbsp;(2020), received widespread critical acclaim. Subsequent releases, including&nbsp;Piano Solo&nbsp;and&nbsp;Mountains(2024), further established his voice, with&nbsp;Piano Solo&nbsp;earning the Grand Prix du Disque Award. In 2024, he was named “Up-and-Comer of the Year” by&nbsp;NYC Jazz Record, “Best International Artist” by&nbsp;Jazz News, and was included in&nbsp;DownBeat’s “25 for the Future.”

Kateryna Movchan, flute and Danica Škreblin, guitar present music of Astor Piazzola. Kateryna Movchan is an award-winning Ukrainian flutist who made her solo debut at the age of 12 with the Luhansk Philharmonic led by Austrian conductor Kurt Schmid. In 2024, she was awarded a master’s degree with distinction from the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna. She has made music at Carnegie Hall, and at the UNESCO World Headquarters in Paris.
Danica Škreblin is a native of Zagreb, Croatia and a graduate of the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna. She is the recipient of more than twenty awards including First Prize at the Presti International Guitar Competition, and First Prize at the Sarajevo Guitar Festival.

Be Glad then America - The 12 professional voices of the Downtown Music Chorale remember the American Revolution and the Battle of White Plains with a program which celebrates the tremendous variety of music available in the American colonies.&nbsp; Works of William Billings, G.F. Handel and the Moravian composers C.F. Peter and David Moritz Michael will be featured alongside latter-day, Broadway compositions of Rogers and Hart Jerry Herman and Sherman Edwards.&nbsp;&nbsp;

What we call classical music was the popular music of its day. And popular music now is mostly shaped by classical conventions. Frank Morelli and Nenad Ivović bring the music of Bernstein, Weill, Gershwin, and yes, Brahms and Ellington, wherein the genres are blurred and the dots become connected.

Trio Cava presents Haydn Piano Trio in C major, Hob. XV:27 and Mendelssohn Piano Trio No. 2 in C minor.&nbsp;
Yebin Yoo has won all major national competitions in Australia, including the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition and the National Youth Concerto Competition. Most recently, she was named winner of the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, performing the Hindemith Violin Concerto. Since 2024, she has participated in the Marlboro Music Festival and will be participating in Marlboro on Tour in 2027.&nbsp;
Elena Ariza is the 2025-27 season cellist for Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect program, a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School, and Teaching Assistant for Astrid Schween. She previously received her Artist Diploma at Juilliard and her Bachelor of Arts at Columbia University, majoring in computer science, as part of the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange Program. . She has been featured on Yo-Yo Ma’s Music Art Life project and on NPR’s From the Top.
Lucas Amory holds a Master’s degree from the Juilliard School in Piano Performance and a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in Music and German, where he was also awarded the Robert D. Levin and David McCord Prizes. He is the first prize winner of the PianoArts 2024 North American Competition in Milwaukee and the 2022 James Yannatos Harvard Concerto Competition. In 2026 he was featured as a resident artist at L’Atelier Musical in New Baltimore, NY , where he recorded and performed the complete Debussy Etudes in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Patrick Lo Re.

Angelica –&nbsp; A visit from this wonderful chamber choir, directed by Marie Caruso, has become a seasonal tradition for our Downtown Music audience.&nbsp; The concert brings together music from across seven centuries, exploring the wonder, mystery, and joy of the season. Medieval treasures include “Puer Natus in Bethlehem,” “What Tidings Bringest Thou,” and the 14th-century English carol “Als I Lay on Yoolis Night,” alongside Renaissance works by Monteverdi, Salamone Rossi, and Giovanni Croce.

It is deeply meaningful to share these sculptures at the Jay Heritage Center, a place rooted in the history of American diplomacy. Here, they connect the story of our modern embassies abroad with John Jay’s legacy as a statesman at home and diplomat abroad. — Jorge Otero-Pailos
<h3>About the Work</h3>
Analogue Sites is a series of steel sculptures by Spanish-American artist and preservationist Jorge Otero-Pailos, created in 2019 from fencing salvaged during the preservation of the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, designed by Finnish-American modernist master Eero Saarinen. Otero-Pailos transformed this material as a way of preserving its layered history and drawing attention to the U.S. Embassy Program—an unprecedented Cold War–era initiative by the State Department that made modernist architecture and the arts central to American diplomacy abroad. These sculptures raise awareness of these embassies at a time when they are being decommissioned and left with little to no preservation protection.
At the Jay Heritage Center, two works are placed symmetrically in the restored garden parterres, framing the central path. Their mirrored placement reflects themes of balance and reciprocity central to diplomacy and honors John Jay’s historic missions to Spain, France, and England, and his role as a founding figure in American diplomacy.
Sculptures from this series have been exhibited in New York on Park Avenue; in London at Regent’s Park and at Winfield House, the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom; and in Washington, D.C., at the National Museum of American Design.

Otero-Pailos is an internationally recognized New York–based artist, architect, and preservationist known for his monumental casts of historical buildings. He has exhibited at prestigious venues such as the Venice Art Biennale and the British Parliament, and his works are held in major museum collections. Otero-Pailos also teaches and directs the Historic Preservation program at Columbia University GSAPP.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
